Love for the World is the Greatest Test for Humanity: Allama Rana Idris

Rana Idrees Qadri Addressing Khutba Jummah in Jamia Shaykh ul islam

The Deputy Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Allama Rana Muhammad Idris, addressed the Jummah congregation at Jamia Sheikh-ul-Islam Lahore, stating that the love for the world and the greed for wealth and material possessions do not completely disappear from the human heart until the soul is separated from the body. He emphasized that death is an inevitable reality that not only takes away a person's material blessings but also strips them of their power, authority, relationships, and all worldly supports.

He explained that the Qur'an describes the reality of the world in five aspects: the world is a game, an illusion, a temporary adornment, a means for pride and arrogance, and a display of wealth. All these aspects aim to remind human beings that the beauty and allure of the world are temporary and fleeting. Referring to an Ayah from Surah Al-Isra, he said, "Whoever desires the Hereafter and strives for it while maintaining faith, those are the ones whose efforts will be accepted by Allah." He further stated that if one’s worldly efforts are made with the intention of the Hereafter, then the world itself becomes a means of salvation.

Allama Rana Muhammad Idris also quoted a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in which he described the world’s worth through the example of a dead goat, indicating its insignificance. He said that, in the eyes of Allah, the value of the world is even less than that of a dead animal, and if the world were worth even the wing of a mosquito to Allah, the disbeliever would not receive even a sip of water from it.

Allama Idris further added that while Allah has certainly blessed us with many worldly bounties — flowing rivers, lush fields, towering mountains, and natural beauty — all of these are temporary. The true and lasting blessings are in the Hereafter. He warned that becoming deceived by the world and forgetting the Hereafter is a great loss. He stated that the person who does not consider the world as the ultimate goal but uses it as a means to attain closeness to Allah is the one who is truly successful. "When a person abandons the love of the world and engages sincerely in preparing for the Hereafter, the world itself falls at their feet."

At the end of his address, he prayed that Allah grant us the ability to recognize the reality of this world, protect us from the greed of wealth, and enable us to dedicate our lives to preparing for the Hereafter.
