The essence of the Abrahamic tradition is the pursuit of divine pleasure: Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, in his message on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, congratulated the Muslim Ummah, especially the Muslims of Pakistan, on the joyous occasion of Eid.
He said the fundamental purpose of the Abrahamic tradition is to seek the pleasure of Allah. Eid-ul-Adha teaches us about the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) and submission to the command of Allah Almighty. This day is about adopting piety, sincerity, and the spirit of sacrifice. All Muslims should remember the needy and deserving on this occasion.
Shaykh-ul-Islam emphasized that Eid-ul-Adha is not merely about the ritual slaughter of animals, but also about sacrificing one’s desires. We must all demonstrate mutual tolerance, justice, and respect for humanity. Promote love, forgiveness, and brotherhood.
Dr. Qadri said the spirit of selflessness distinguishes and elevates the Ummah of Muhammad (PBUH). Sacrifice is not just about slaughtering animals or distributing meat—it is about being ever-ready to sacrifice life, wealth, children, honor, and comfort in the path of Allah. The purpose of sacrifice is to cultivate a spirit of altruism and devotion among believers. Some deeds bring one especially close to Allah, and sacrifice is among those exalted acts.
He added that according to a Hadith, for every hair on the body of the sacrificial animal, a reward is recorded. What holds the most significance in the acceptance of sacrifice is sincerity and pure intention before Allah. The true objective of sacrifice is piety and God-consciousness. A sacrifice performed with the intention of pleasing Allah earns immense reward.
Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri emphasized that on Eid-ul-Adha, special care should be taken of relatives and the needy. This is the true spirit of Islamic worship and the greatest means of attaining Allah’s pleasure.
