Send Utility Bills to Mosques and Madaris Free from Taxes: Dr. Allama Mir Asif Akbar
Dr. Mir Asif Akbar, Nazim-e-Aala (Director General) of Nizam-ul-Madaris Pakistan, has urged that under the “Mehrab Mahfooz Roshan Punjab” (Safe and Illuminated Pulpit Punjab) initiative, all utility bills (electricity and gas) for mosques and their affiliated religious seminaries should be sent completely tax-free. He added that any additional taxes should be paid directly by the Punjab government from its own treasury.
He further stated that if the Punjab government officially announces such a decision, there would be no need for expensive advertising campaigns or millions in promotional spending. Instead, thousands of mosque Imams will commend this initiative in their sermons, and their words of appreciation will reach every ear — naturally publicizing and earning respect for the government's efforts.
Dr. Akbar pointed out that paying utility bills has become a major problem for mosques, with heavy electricity charges causing hardship for worshippers and making the administration of mosques increasingly difficult.
He emphasized that taking steps to keep the houses of Allah secure and illuminated would undoubtedly invite divine mercy, and that worshippers would be able to perform their prayers with greater ease and comfort.
